| Optimal health may best be described as experiencing the fullness of life physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Many are beginning to awaken to the reality that there are positive actions they can take to significantly improve the state of their health and well-being. The choices we make throughout our lifetimes powerfully impact the quality of our own lives and health as well as that of those around us. We have the opportunity to make proactive choices to improve our health and quality of life by choosing to detoxify, or remove from our lives that which does not belong. Optimal health is more than just the absence of disease or symptoms. It is the state of vibrant well-being in our living experience.
Detoxification is more than just adding additional fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet. There are seven key areas of importance required to establish optimal health:
. Optimal Pure Water Intake
. Optimal Whole Foods Nutrition
. Optimal Digestion
. Optimal Elimination
. Reduction of Toxic Influences & Increase of Beneficial Influences
. Regular Exercise
. Peace of Mind
Our bodies detoxify naturally daily through breathing, digestive tract function, the liver, the lymphatic system, the skin, and the urinary tract. These organs and body systems are designed to process toxins into less harmful substances and eliminate them. In these toxic times our exposure to toxins has increased through pollution, which affects our air, food and water supplies. The increased toxic burden on our body's systems creates toxic residues which accumulate in the fatty tissues and organs. Accumulated toxicity results in illness and disease. Detoxification, with the assistance of specific herbs, pure food, water and other natural elements, helps the body's detoxifying systems to release these toxins. One exit, no return.
Most people today will benefit from a balanced detoxification program that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Lack of energy and fatigue are among the most common complaints we see clinically in those who would benefit from a detoxification program. Many of the symptoms of toxicity include: exhaustion even after a full night's sleep; excessive weight gain; chronic pain; limited sense of well-being, and even greater lethargy after eating meals. When toxins build up in the body they create blockages, which can prevent proper absorption of the foods we eat.
The digestive tract is very important to the body's detoxification process. This is where food is converted into energy and where toxins are eliminated. Cleansing and rebalancing the digestive tract is the first step to enhance overall energy and an end to lethargy after meals. The digestive tract is just one very important part of the body's extensive detoxification system. A balanced detoxification program includes the cleansing of the colon and liver as well as the lungs, skin, kidneys, and lymphatic system. Understanding and utilizing a cleansing program in which these detoxification "channels," or pathways in the body, are opened, cleansed and functioning optimally is key to experiencing vibrant health through detoxification.
Increased energy levels, greater sense of well being, joy in living, and inner peace are just a few of the benefits to be achieved through a comprehensive, effective detoxification program. Additional benefits of detoxification most commonly found are: an improved physical appearance, clearer mental processes, elimination of allergies, achievement of ideal weight, reduced effects of aging, and spiritual renewal. Detoxification is a natural balancing and recovery process that is as ancient and natural as life itself. A balanced, comprehensive detoxification program not only focuses on improving your diet with support from supplements and herbs, but also takes into account your environment, stress levels, daily lifestyle, emotional health, and spiritual outlook. When beginning a detoxification program, you must begin by identifying and eliminating or minimizing those toxins in your environment. Removing toxins from your environment and diet will be an essential step in the detoxifying process. Simply reducing daily exposure has made it possible for many to sustain consistent optimal health and vibrant well-being.
The foods and liquids we consume can be major contributors to either our well-being or to ill health and disease. Pure drinking water, organic whole foods free of chemicals, range-fed meats, and elimination of sugars, processed and refined foods are keys to the elimination of internal toxins. It is impossible to eliminate all toxins in our environment; however, we can reduce much of the burden. Finding creative solutions for eliminating toxins in your home/work environment can be very helpful in reducing the toxic burden, such as investing in high quality air and water purification systems as needed. Opt for natural fiber clothing, bed coverings and furnishings of cotton and wool, and natural woods as well as natural flooring of hardwood, ceramic tile, natural fiber wool rugs and carpets. Selecting safe, natural, nontoxic paints and natural household cleaners can go a long way in eliminating synthetic toxins in your environment. Elimination of as many electrical devices in the home and especially the bedroom where we spend at least one third of our time, and providing full-spectrum lighting throughout the office and home, can offer a much more healthy, natural and relaxing environment.
Stress can be a major factor in our lives and can interfere with our ability to experience peace of mind. Learning to set limits and becoming aware when we are attempting to do too much will help manage stress levels in our lives. Regular exercise increases your metabolism, stimulates lymphatic movement and can serve as a healthy stress release as well as increasing your sense of well-being. Identifying negative emotional patterns and releasing these patterns that are no longer serving you is also an important part of detoxification. Research is finding that toxic emotional patterns contribute to a variety of diseases, including cancer, heart disease and autoimmune diseases. Developing positive ways of responding to the environment that enhance your well-being can be so freeing from these negative patterns. For example, when feelings of anger arise, find it within yourself to forgive and release those toxic feelings immediately. Remember, we always have the power to choose how we respond to things. Our attitudes will either bind us to our current patterns or free us to make new choices. Releasing and eliminating that which does not serve our highest good and the good of those around us can free us to reveal our true spirit, reconnect with our true purpose, regain our joy for living in each moment and experience vibrant well-being and optimal health.
